Thermos for ice fishing?
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good thermos to keep my coffee hot while ice fishing? The thermos I have only keeps my coffee warm.
Thanks,

Aladdin, Thermos or Stanley are still top names. Pre-heating is necessary if you want it to stay hot all day.

Stanley here. Have 2 of them. One for the kids hot chocolate and for coffee. All day snowmobiling and everything stays hot. But preheat like the above posters mentioned.

I pre-heat as well, but also have a cheap 'plug-in' stainless steel mug for the truck. It quickly re-heats coffee for the long trip home!

Stanley for sure. Left in my truck all day in minus 25 and still had hot coffee for ride home after snowboarding. Was even still warm the next morning

The large red/brown thermos from Tim Hortons is the best I've used, keeps coffee hot for 24 hours, if you pre heat it with boiling water.

Stanley is what I use and coffee was still hot 15 hours later last time I was out on ice.

I pre warm my thermos with hot water for 10 mins prior to filling. I nuke the coffee in a measuring cup then add to thermos. My coffee is too hot to drink down after 5 hrs in the cold. Have to let it cool slightly before drinking.

Friends have the stanley from Costco. They brought it out ice fishing all day, opened it up at dark. Soup was piping hot still. Had to let it cool. Need to get one.

Best Vac flasks out there now are Nissan.
My old Uno Vac stainless is still better but Uno Vac no longer produces them. My Tea still hot enough that you need to let it cool 36 hours latter.

So far the Stanley 2L keeps mine the hottest for a much longer duration. My Stanley 1L doesn't stay as hot for some reason. But this year I've upgraded though and picked up a Stanley portable coffee press/thermos combo so I make it right on the ice. Has 2 cups and a storage container built in for your grounds, I just love it. I think they're at Cabelas.

NISSAN and you do not need to pre-heat it will stay hot all day no problems
Was a sceptic till a buddy of mine filled his with hot water put in the fridge freezer overnight and it was still hot the next morn. Still the sceptic to prove it was the best he filled it half with hot water and into the freezer, next morn. hot.
Not cheap but after more than 15 yrs. mine is still the best I have ever owned.

I use thermos brand from canadian tire. I dont bother with preheating, just fill with my boiling liquid of choice and it is still scalding hot at the end of the day. Thermos claims 24 hours and mine is still warm the next morning as long as you dont drink most of it day before.

I bought the heavy duty thermos from Tim Hortons a few years ago. It's great It's very much like the Stanley.

not sure if posted already, but, get a thermos that does not have a screw on cap. get the cap that has the little button that you press. press-pour-press and that's it, no time for cool air to enter.

Personally I don't like the fancy capped ones as it's just a matter of time before they start leaking. Not a problem if you plan on replacing it every few years but mine is now over 30 years old and is still great.

The 2 L has a much smaller surface area to volume ratio compared to the 1 L so will keep things hotter/cooler.

I was just thinking of this thread as I sit drinking my lukewarm tea 40 hours after making it.
Made the tea 5:30 AM Saturday and was still nice and warm this morning(only had a cup or so yesterday) and now is lukewarm. Can't complain about that.

Stanley can't be beat, fill and go and its good all day, preheat with boiling water and I've left it in the truck overnight -30 and its still hot.
Anything will work if you preheat it.

Stanley is the best in my book. Just preheat with hot tap water for 5 min prior to filling and you are set with super hot coffee for 24hrs
