Some wild turkey girls hanging around Queens bay, Kootenay lake. Quite fitting for Thanksgiving day!

How have you found the quality of fishing versus years past since the kokanee decline?

Great Lake and Post BTW

I can probably answer this one, fished the lake f the past 15 years and I would say the quality of fishing stayed the same just the quality fish has really plummeted ,still lots of fish being caught just a lot of smaller ones of 3-4 pounders with the odd 7-8. I hope t get out in November with some buddy's.

I got back from a week there and the fishing was really slow. I threw the tackle box at them, on top to 100' and finally landed three skinny rainbows on bucktails at surface. We have always started the season there but I am wavering whether it is worth going back next April.

We did really well at 120' The water was too warm for surface fishing and few were caught there.

May long we were there and caught nothing but fat healthy bows to 4lbs still better than most Ab. lakes.

It's like Marty says, still lots of fish to be had but the size has diminished. I think the derby winner this past weekend was 6 lbs 11oz.

Last May they released 92,000 kok fry so here's hoping for yrs to come.

Thanks gents - I did not make it out there this year. Primarily due to the news related to the Kokanee decline (die off).

Hopefully she recovers.
