Default Sylvan Lake Ice fishing

Headed up to Sylvan this weekend, anyone know if there is ice or not, and what are the tricks for fishing that lake. Newbie to the sport. Where is a good spot there? Thanks

the lake is closed until Dec 11.

--edit-- Gold bells= white fish at sylvan. Otherwise lots of good pike, walleye and burbot.

No safe ice yet, but when you do get on, my favorite place to fish in Sylvan is north on RR 23 until you get to the water and head straight east about 50yards past the long weeds. theres Walleye there like crazy. You cant keep them but ive fished there a few times this summer and caught no less than 50 fish in a few hours. I even got a nice pike on my fly rod. I fish Gull on the south end and theres rarely people near, the fishing can be a little slow but they're all hogs, even the perch. Good Luck.

sylvan is all iced over but not safe to drive on. you can walk out a few feet but thats about it.
water 15- under will get you whitefish, pike, walleye while able to sightfish.
wire worm jigged, gold bells snapped off the bottom, big mackeral on tip ups will you get you most fish.

As mentioned above it is still closed

Well, I'll bring the gear up this weekend and see if there are any spots to get on. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Got to get away from the in-laws for awhile anyways...lol

Both Sylvan and Gull are closed until Dec 10. If you want a quick visit from F&W, then go ahead and get onto those lakes. From what I've heard, the people around these lakes are pretty zealous about calling F&W when the season is closed. You'll be a pretty easy target.

If you meant to say that you're going to hit up another lake that's open, then have fun and good luck!

I wasn't suggesting I was out to go poaching, I read the regs and found out it was closed. The one thing I do is never believe anyone on the rules and check them out myself.
Another rule of thumb: You never know who's watching
