school semester ended on dec 22 =)
i planned this project for quite a long time but never really had time to do.
i have an eskimo 43 cc power auger 10'' and every now and then i go to lakes where i dont really need that large hole...
( and it is also a safety concern because last time i was fishing girlfriend stepped into the hole ans almost broke her leg...)
i was thinking about buying a separate bottom part 8'' diameter... but it was too expensive.
so i decided to build an adapter for my 8'' hand auger and also to make it work as an extension for the 10''
machined it in my friends garage (he has lathe and mill)
ended up with 17 1/4'' adapter which allows me to drill 8'' holes 46'' deep
and 10'' holes 59''
the whole assembly with 8'' weights about 5-6 lb less
tested it yesterday at the ghost lake and it is so much faster!!!
drilled 20+ inches of ice in 10-12 seconds !!!
