I don't drink much at all these days, but back when I was just starting out I made a rule that I shouldn't drink alone, basically it was something I rationalized due to the number of alcoholics on my Mom's side of the family (both her parents and 2 out of her 4 brothers). I figured with that family history I ought to be careful.
