Default Sonar / GPS - Humminbird Helix™ 7 - looking for references

Good evening.

Looking at a Humminbird Helix 7 CHIRP SI Sonar/GPS G2.

Wondering if anybody has one of these units? Looking to find out the good and bad before buying. Any suggestions on additional features that I should purchase or any that are included with this version that are a wast of money? Any input would be appreciated.

I'm sure you already know, but in case you don't they are 30% off at Cabelas til March 17.

I was thinking of upgrading my setup as well. That's a heck of a deal.

Bought one after Christmas for $700 that included Navionics maps. I could not resist. i was considering a flasher but at that price I got considerably more bang for my buck. I set it up for ice fishing and mobility by mounting it in/on a waterproof case, with a spare battery from my marcum fishcam, and mounting the transducer on an aluminum tube that fits in the ice hole. I am very pleased with the setup.

That is slick ES, why not buy an ice ducer rather that haul around the aluminum pole.

Might do that yet. Wanted to see if the DI and SI worked. Actually mounted the tube to my Marcum planner but it rotates a bit fast. The pole clips onto the box for hole hopping and comes out of the hole easily to prevent line tangling. Very mobile.
