Default Hinton no good?

I was talking to my dad and he mentioned that the people around him say theres no good fishing in the area? He just moved there a few months ago so I told him to give it a chance and go exploring. Im almost certain a while back people on the board were talking about the great trout fishing around Hinton so whats he talking about.

Theirs a couple lakes that are not bad. Jarvis has some big pike, wildhorse is good for trout, kinky lake. Im going to obed tomorrow for some perch and see if I can hook onto a brown trout. Its not as bad as he is making it out to be.

Awesome area in the summer. You have the McLeod and all its tribs which for the most part have excellent fishing (bullies, rainbows, brookies, whitefish). If you go a little southeast you've got the Embarrass and all the streams in that area. Lots of rainbows and a few brookie streams that provide very good fishing. Theres a few trout lakes in the area that i'm told are pretty good (i stick to the rivers and streams myself 95% of the time). Heres a few fish from that area, mostly small but nice colors and beautiful scenery. Both from within 40 minutes of the city.

Edit: photo's removed can't get the sizing to work.

Check out Barry Mitchells guide for that area, won't steer you wrong.

I moved here six months ago with my fly rod and a bag of clothes and absolutely love it here. I think your dad should follow your advice and do some exploring.

Default McLeod

Here is me fishing at the McLeod.
It was very cold that day but was worth it! Beleive it or not there were 2 Fish and wildlife officers hideing in the bush watching us for 3 HOURS. I saw the light in my truck go on and was wondering why the heck it was on and only does that when someone opens the door. They were locked so I cross back over the river and 2 fish cops pop out of the bush and told me they have been watching us for 3 hours to see if we were doing any illegal activities. My girlfriend flipped because they had no right trying to go into our truck and when confronted about it they kept changing the subject. Well after an earful they left lol. Seriously, 3 hours? do they not have anything better to do. There were guys using treble hooks and bait in the main public spot right in the open but guess we must have been suspicious for some reason. Oh well what do ya do right.
