YIKES! That is too close for comfort.
Taking everything else into account unless we (the people of earth) finally loose our alleged minds and nuke ourselves the most likely cause of an "extinction level event" will be an asteroid or a coronal mass ejection from the sun.
In either event saving all the ammo and food you want will only allow you to go out shooting while chewing on some jerky if you have any warning. Not sure what you might be shooting AT...but you could be shooting...lol
An asteroid the size of a battleship might not be an extinction level event but it could certainly be a game changer for earth and it's inhabitants. Little changes like entire continents no longer being habitable or changing the wobble of the planet causing wonky seasons.
Oh yeah...and close also counts in "The Price is Right".
