Just o thought about members profiles without Location.

I think Location should be mandatory as it would be helpful to see were member is located.
Some ask for help with reloading or would like to handle different guns. They would get more help if Location is displayed with their post.

How about real names? Phone numbers? Maybe an outdoors resume of sorts with references so we can tell if they are serious or just trolling?

Yeah, we don't want any funny comments here.

We don't need a ton of info in profiles. In fact we don't need any information in profiles. If you are interested in someone's location or experience, ask them. It also shouldn't be too much of a stretch to realize that information in someone's profile may not necessarily be true (remember that "part-time male model" on LavaLife, FishingMom? LOL). It will just be a PITA for honest members and no hinderance at all for scammers or trolls.

The only case I can think of where location is relevant and would be useful is in buy and sell.

It should be mandatory for your actual location to be given. I don't see why not, what do you have to hide?

Mandatory - NO, if you are a regular in buy and sell and want to add location good for you, but otherwise it's nobodies business.

If the Forum owner and mods need more info, that's fine. But what possible purpose would be served by providing you with my personal information?

Read post # 10. I think it's pretty clear. It's allready in the rules, just not enforced to the letter.

Mandatory location..

So who's gonna check that the locations are accurate?

Buy/sell. Sure, but why not just ask where they are located. Seems pretty simple to me.

They can already locate you within about ~50km just from your IP address that your computer transmits everytime you logon to AO. Unless you are using a VPN.

It's something we can't make mandatory when signing up and we can't enforce it. There are lots of members who don't use the buy & sell.

It is suggested in the rules and guidelines. It is buyer and seller beware. If a member will not tell you their location while trying to deal with him/her, obviously don't deal with him/her.
