Default America: Right to Bear Arms

So, after watching Piers popping off a few hundred rounds with the M2, it got me thinking;

Where do we draw the line with owning military weapons?

The M2?

Grenades?

Having visited Cambodia where you can toss grenades into a pond for $10 a pop, why couldn't I own some in America?

Rocket Launchers?

Again, under the appropriate conditions, why couldn't I own a rocket launcher or RPG?

So, state what your line in the sand is.

Personally, I think I should be able to buy grenades for home or sporting use.

I think propelled explosive and fragmentary devices need not be in the public domain.

What say you?

They are great for fishing and everyone should have at least one in their tackle box.

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a rocket launcher is a good guy with a rocket launcher!

I've always wanted a belt fed weapon.

Mortars and angti armor stuff is OK but...way too expensive to feed and to be fair... not nearly as cool as what you see in movies.

I think my personal line would be a belt fed 50 cal or even a GPMG.

I'd also LOVE to have a Bloop Gun.... they are just too much fun.

I wouldn't use em for hunting though.
I like to keep it serious and simple for that.

GPMG might be useful in small scale deforestation as well. With the appropriate signage of course.

Bee, are you looking for entertainment?

My line in the sand is very simple: if you can prove proficiency, a clean criminal record, provide a place to safely discharge "heavier" firearms, and pay to play, have at 'er.

Owning a tiger II would be an interesting experience for me as a mechanic and an old history student. Don't quite think my local range is set up for me to do that though. Although getting the engine and drive system working again would be neat

My line in the sand would be nuclear and biochemical, after all nobody really NEEDS one.

I don't think there would be much milsurp available, might have to reload for the 88.

I think howitzers should be legal. Then I can bid for them fun avalanche jobs.

Iran and North Korea have them. When traveling abroad it helps to travel prepared

I remember the machine gun shoots we had in Alberta prior to Herr Rok undt der Cretin.

Even hoplophobes that came as visitors had a good time.

The MG34 is a remarkable gun. I can't see how Hitler lost the war with guns like that.

Cool

Lack of ammo created a lack of opperators , in one instance a tiger ll covered a bridge and took out Sherman's for days till they ran out of ammo and were over run.the ruskies threw massive numbers at them to get close enough for the lighter gun on the t34 to take effect on the heavier tiger. Bovington is a neat place to visit for a day .

Lee Enfields.....lets not forget about the real scary Mexican Mondragon from....the worlds first semi-auto. Military explosives, rifles, handguns, cartridges and derivatives.....ban them all. That will fix it.

No, but it is the point of all SDF's, and now BG's threads lately.

At least BG is trying to use a little humour in this one. SDF's "you shouldn't arm yourself because you will die anyway" thread was pathetic drivel put up for not other reason than to antagonize other board members - I believe "trolling" is the commonly used term.

SDF needs some time alone with his thoughts IMO.

I don't see any difference between sdf and bees threads as compared to rocky7 threads. If we can have 300 pro gun threads a day I'd say they are entitled to start threads as well. But that's just me.

I think that the Reverend Rocky has started more gun threads than any two other posters combined.

The thing I don't get is people say "who are you to tell me I can't have high cap mags" or "its my right to bear arms" on one thread but on another belittling someone and telling them they are trolling or blah blah blah. Apparently the right to bear arms is more important than the right to free speech. If he can't tell you his opinion on high cap mags then I don't see how you can tell him he can't voice his opinion. Not pointing fingers at anyone directly but as a whole. If there are pro gun threads there should be pro gun control threads. Unless of course people just want to see one side of the situation and validate their own beliefs.

whoa whoa whoa

This was not meant as a pro gun control thread.

It was meant to discuss the scope and scale of the 2nd amendment and "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" with respect to modern military armaments.
