Default Computer-assisted remote hunting

Reading through the topic "Five reasons to BAN Spears and Atlatls for hunting Big game" I noticed a number of comments that we should not ban any (legal) method of harvesting a big game animal.

Is any weapon legal to harvest a game animal if it not deemed prohibited by Canadian law or deemed illegal in the wildlife act?

What about the future of weapons and how we deploy them? With the same mind-set the majority of posters have in the spear and atlatl topic, they should be OK with ANY method of harvest that the future may bring?

Discuss.

The future of hunting could be drones....there are already electronic firearms/scopes that will fire the gun once locked onto an aiming point.

IMHO...there is a point when the technology surpasses the definition of hunting.

Most laws and the best laws prohibit things/actions by naming/describing them. Thus, everything is legal unless it is prohibited. The alternative to that is everything is unlawful unless it is permitted. It is not ok with any method of harvest the future may bring. There will be more prohibitions

X2 Couldn't agree more..Just hope like hell none of these nonsense firearms/accessories are ever classified as "non-restricted" in Canada

Hello:Tsunami
You kind of answered your own question!
I'm sure the Wildlife laws will change, as technologies change to keep Hunting ,Hunting not just killing.
F.W.I.W.! There is already computer assisted weapon's control devices, in use by handicapped hunters. I think only in the U.S.A., as far as I know,at this point.

The regs say "aircraft", not "manned aircraft". someone asked me this not long ago and I had to look it up. So no flying drones for hunting in AB (can you imagine?! future thread: "what size of shot will take down a quad rotor over my spot?") Computer assisted or remote triggered is another much more slippery slope. Hope we don't slide that far.
