Well headed back to Wabamun for another Sunday of great fishing, and well what I thought to be the best auger out there proved it definately isn't.
Been using a 2hp jiffy with the Tecumseh motor for 3 seasons now. First year I had it the recoil spring in the pull cord let go, nothing major but it took quite a bit on the ice to take it apart and put it all back together. That's been fine ever since. Earlier this year one of the 2 nuts which hold the gas tank/throttle body assemble loosened off which let the whole assemble loosen off, which of course stopped it dead. So another hour or so of dis assembling, making sure everything is there, put it all back together, and good to go......
Until yesterday. Even though I put a little loctite on there, the nuts loosened off again, this time went straight into the intake right as the piston was coming past....well you can guess the rest. It's done.
So this is a warning to all Jiffy guys out there...CHECK YOUR NUTS! This may have been one in a thousand thing, but for the 2minutes to take off the air filter cap, remove the sponge filter, to check those two nuts....could save you a lot of trouble. As for me....Stihl....Here I come!
BTW...anyone wants a good deal on a Jiffy Auger only 3 years old...let me know. Includes 8" auger leg.
Oh ya lots of action again on Wabamun, but no lunkers this time.
