Can't believe some prices these days.
Been looking around on different sites and 25 to 30 year old trailers , motor homes and quads are extremely high in my opinion. Newer ones and Cars and trucks seem ok. Whats your thoughts ?

Yeah real old used RVs are a bit ridiculous in pricing. $6k for a 1998 22’ bumper pull with water damage is pretty common. Then again, I guess when a new one is $55k...

I've always been amazed at the Volkswagen Westfalia (their cool little camper minibus). Right now there are three 1990 on Autotrader in Alberta ranging from $21000.00 to $45000.00.
In 1990 they were under $20000.00 new.

The market is what it is, people can ask whatever they want shop around the deals are out there.
Put yourself in the sellers place you paid $40K maybe sell it 10 years later for $20K another 10 years $10K, its no different than vehicles I've seen 5 year old trucks with 250K Kms for 45 grand
Besides for only $149 biweekly for 20 years you could buy a new one.

People are asking that price.. but are they selling it?
Anyone who pays 75g$ plus for a pick up truck need to really think about what they just did... I think it is crazy... but, just my opinion

I just had a friend buy himself and his wife basically identical truck right down to the colour...he paid about the 60 grand each...yes each! That would be the day I would even think about that...I still tell him he's crazy, but I think he's starting to believe me now...same colour..geez!

Beginning of the season too so RV prices start high hoping for panicked buyers
I have been looking for a specific truck for a while, lots of miled out, rust buckets come through kijiji. What these tools are asking for what is a 2 thousand dollar truck is outrageous. Problem is, they ads go away so I suspect people are buying them. Crazy.

Feel the same way too - looking for a decent boat, and the prices are just crazy. I just don't fish enough to make it worth that kind of outlay.

I just sold a 2000 26' 5th wheel in good shape for $4500.00. It was online for less than a day and got 22 people wanting to buy. It was right on the cusp of too big for a half ton and not enough for a 1 ton. For a family of 4 it was a great deal, the first person that came threw cash at me.
I wish I had 10 of them.

My Westy was around $65000 new in 92. They hold their value well.

I can't believe what people are asking for used diesel trucks. I see 2014-2015 Ram 3500 trucks with 60,000 to 100,000kms asking $55k-$65k. I think that is ridiculous. I get that new trucks have gone up in price, but I have a 2015 Ram 3500 that I only paid $70k for almost 4 years ago. you would think a brand new truck would lose more than $5000 value over 4 years..

How about the prices of some older diesels? Seen the other day a 1999 Dodge 2500, fenders all rusty, 400k+ on the clock, and the guy was asking $11k. Hilarious. I sold my 1997 Dodge 2500 diesel 4wd with 216k on the clock, also typical rusty Dodge fenders, for $7800 and the guy who bought it from me thought he was absolutely stealing it from me.

Some things sell better than others.

It seems that you have encountered a man with a Midas arse. Those rare specimens that magically add value to an object simply for having owned it or sat in it. Often creating value which even supercedes new pricing.
They're fairly common these days really. Not the unicorn of yesteryear as once believed..

Ever look at what a c3 corvette in rough shape goes for? Blows my mind. Yes I understand rare cars and 'muscle' cars are worth more money but a basic c3 was not rare by any means.
I've seen rusted out ones that don't run asking 10k for them!

I can't really explain the pricing of old RV's/Trailers, or Vehicles. It boggles the mind really. The only thing I can think of that keeps the price so high is that guys are flipping vehicles/trailers. And buy the good ones basically as soon as they're posted.

Ah yes ..... the dodge 3500 diesel ..... where the golden chariot achieves 75 mpg, is capable of 0-60 in 3,2 seconds and can pull a row of trains while doing it.
With it's mirrors fully deployed, that chariot will take to the skies like a 747.
I know the guy. He lives in Leduc.

We have an 1971 boler camper trailer, if I were to sell it today it would be worth around 8-9 thousand, but I'm hanging on to mine.

Doh!!! I bought an immaculate old 12' Boler off of an older lady that needed it gone. She sold it to me for 500 loonies. I pulled the trailer 1 mile away to my place and parked it in my yard, visible to the highway. 2 hours later a fellow pulled in and offered 2.5K so I took it. Sounds like I could have got a better price.
Sorry for the sidetrack. Back on topic...

I've discovered that often those ridiculous prices for used vehicles and toys are due to the ridiculous amounts owing against them. Hence the term "Firm".

Buying the unit is the cheap part
The wife and I have been touring (30' trailer) for the past 5 weeks average fuel cost has been 35 cents a kilometer, camp sites $30-50 a night.
3000 kms = $1050 fuel + $1100 for camping fees 10 years ago the same trip was 50% cheaper the prices go up nothing you can do about it.

What the heck options did you have. When I priced them in 1990 the base Vanagon was about $15000 and the fully loaded Westfalia was about $26000.
Or did they go up that much in 2 years?

Well, if the auto tariffs go through, you will be begging for these new vehicle prices. If you are waiting to buy, I wouldn't wait much longer.

Went in last year to trade off my 2012 Ram 2500 Laramie
Bought a 2016 3500 Dually with 30k on the dial. For $59000.00 plus the taxes full load with a standard trany
But there was a new limited 3500 there sticker price $105,000.00
That is craziness.
I hated spending over 60k on a truck but I use it for work every day and get paid for it, but was still not happy about it. I can't believe that anyone would pay a 100g for a truck But can't believe that people will pay over $20000.00 for a 1998 dodge either seen a few of those on the buy sell pages

Just saw one on Kijiji that took the take. A 2011 Chevrolet 2500 with 410,000 km for $32,500. Yep, nearly $33 grand for a 7 year old truck with nearly half a million km. Hilarious.
