Political correctness run amok. We try to mask history, we'll forget & repeat. The pendulum has swung too far the other way.

I've always had a problem with applying today's morality to past behaviour. However, that doesn't mean that we should continue to heap nothing but praise on certain historical figures. Nor does it mean we should vilify them for living according to the mores of their day. I do think we should be sure we present a more balanced picture, particularly in schools compared to what I was told when I was in school.
The anti-vaxxers are, indeed, a big problem. It is clear that their magical mind-sets are impervious to logic and science. My parents were so happy to get me immunized against anything they could that the question didn't arise, of course. In order to come to Canada we all had to be immunized against smallpox, for example.
Anti-vaxxers pose a tough question because I believe that people should have freedom of choice. We should convince them to make rational decisions. With anti-vaxxers that is impossible by definition. Balance that against the harm that their choice does to the rest of us. We force them to wear motorcycle helmets and wear vehicle seat belts and drink pasteurized milk. If it were an either-or question I would vote for enforced vaccination. Flame away, as they say.
I have worked with boards at different times and know just what you mean.

I happen to agree with you about the anti vaxxers. No flaming needed. But this is just an example when what is good for the majority should prevail. That was the point I was trying to make. Always doing what’s best for everybody rarely does what’s best for mankind.
As for other historical monuments and team names I wasn’t even contemplating them. My comments have been 100% about the Edmonton Eskimos. It’s my opinion and experience that the team and fans hold the term Eskimo in the highest regard and have never done anything to demean the Inuit people. I feel the context of the name should count for more than the word itself.

As far as sports teams names go , screw them , they are entertainers only.

Well now that pretty much says it right there. All we need is maybe three votes outta 60,000 and we can get a minority challenge of being a sexist forum. I second it. Then again, Outdoors/ men/ wo men ahhh never mind

I don't think Blackhawks means what you think it does 99.
Blackhawk was a leader of the Sauk who sided with the British in the War of 1812 and later attempted to regain tribal land in the Black Hawk War of 1832.
The logo may have to change since war paint is now considered derogatory apparently, which is a damn shame being the Hawks have the nicest jersey in pro sports, and it might be a good idea to change the mascots name from Tommy Hawk.

Maybe they should just change their name to. We’re Sorry

Why not just abbreviate the team name down to the last 3 letters. As a Riders fan I'm just trying to help.
