Plus 48 + 11046. Not the best day for seeing gophers. Weather was a little cloudy and very high winds but was still fun to wack a few gophers. We pounded this field last year as they were being a real problem for the rancher. Sure not near as many this year so proof you can shoot them into submission !!!.

Win X-pert with their big hollow points really do a job on gophers well past a 100 yards.

Default Post gopher kills

What does one do once you've killed a bunch of gophers?
Leave them there to rot, coyotes to eat?

Babies are out in full force
2 10/22's
1 22 Hornet
35gr vmax are definitely more explosive than the 40gr vmax out of the Hornet.

I don't think they ever rot . Magpies and crows show up first , hawks too if they don't eat each other first

Was out leveling the dirt piles before mowing the range, two showed up to torment me and became my first two kills with the new pellet rifle.

Default Shooting Practice

I've taken to shooting these things with my .270, from all positions, all distances I can manage. Using it as target practice to work on shooting technique. Makes it a bit more interactive than just a paper target.....expensive, but a spectacular show!

I have been to the same pasture 5 times and the pasture isnt even very big and it doesnt even look like much of a dent in the population lol. I tried some Rem Golden bullets out for the first time yesterday and i can honestly say i will never buy them again....way too many duds and accuracy is questionable in both 10/22's with a GM & Kidd barrels, i will take Win 555's any day of the week.

Have really thinned the herd at my old spot the last three years, but was able to get permission on a new patch. It's so nice to have an abundance of furry targets of opportunity available. But dang those new little ones make a small target!

Helped an 87 year old farmer today, running his propane gophenator. So, the quantity is unknown, and not much fun had, but he just came unglued this morning when he saw all the young ones emerging after shooting out this little pasture for 2 months.

Was fun but that constant 40 MPH wind meant the Gophers weren't out near as heavy as I had hoped for.
