I went with the TFO signature rod (5 wt), but I purchased a pflueger trion from ebay. I put the Corland 444 SL floating line on it. Very happy so far. I plan on getting a TFO 8wt this weekend at the Otdoor Show for pike.

Seeing how you are in Calgary a great place to take fly fishing lessons - whether they be intro lessons, or refresher lessons you can't go wrong with taking a course from Jim and Lynda McLennan. I did a few years back and it was a really good course. As for fly fishing shops in town Fish Tales is very good to deal with.
