Default 2020 archery elk

Been two years since I’ve been able to hunt much of anything. This year I was hunting come hell or high water. Turns out I still got it. Ten mins into the hunt this fella was on the ground! Now on to moose!

Well done, what a beauty!

Any juicy details would be greatly appreciated, always love learning something from hearing how hunts went dow. I can't imagine much occurred in 10 minutes lol.....but still interested nonetheless!

Nothing to special about it. 20 years of hunting an area and knowing where the elk are and going where others won’t. As I was getting geared up that morning I heard a bugle witch is a great sign. I walked into the Bush about 150/200 yards and bugled. Had four different bulls call back right away. This guy was the closest so I moved another 100 yards or so call again and he was right there. He got to within 100 yards or so and called I cow called back and he came in fast. Had him at under ten yards head on but there was one little tree in the way so I had no shot. Held at full draw for I’m thinking close to a min, I was starting to shake pretty good from holding. He turned to go and I whistled at him he turned broad side and that’s all I needed. Game over. Had about a 400 yard pack out to the truck. This hunt was on crown land. I’ve been lucky and been able to consistently take elk with my bow for the last ten years or so but it took a lot of learning to get there.

Awsome!!!

I’ve been tempted to head out with the bow.

Congratulations and thanks for the details. I am new at this but amazed to hear hunters who say that they can consistently take elk with archery. I have along way to go but am really enjoying it already.
