Default Alberta bighorn sheep jig pictures?

Wondering if anyone has a picture of the new jig in use for a 4/5 sheep? Not many clear pictures online that I can find

Will be tough as they’re not letting people in to view. Last 3 rams they asked us to wait outside the office.

They should at least send you a picture of the sheep in the jig? Seems very odd it’s so private now

Called several offices and they all just want it dropped and left? Would not provide pics of the jig in use

What a bloody joke. A lot on the line and you can't even go in to see.

Some will put it on the jig after if you would like to see it. Seems very officer-dependant though.

Photos were taken of sheep in the jig today.

Depends who’s registering it. Métis harvesters and status still have to register them and they’re exempt from the horn length requirement. Always remember the rules only apply to some.

Well in that case he’s a filthy poacher and will lose his ram, gun, truck, hunting licence for at least a year, have a court date, and pay a fine. (Sarcasm for those who can’t interpret)

Short/young rams don’t need to be taken by anyone
Regardless of your heritage

Don’t “need”. Unfortunately “subsistence” over rides opinions.

I agree
But there’s nothing that will change regarding that, while the liberals are in charge

^ Doesn’t really matter who is in charge in regards to the subject matter.

The guy asked about a pic. At least two guys said they saw pics and no one neither posted a pic nor referred the guy to a place where he could see one. Lol.

There is a picture in this thread but of a well legal ram if 4/5.
Not sure if it will help. http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=402115

Where the line is has definite importantance and imho should be clearly stated. A legal ram should be a legal ram without to much interpretation. Not only for the guys getting their first that may be younger but the broomed off old rams. If I or the guys I hunt with ever shoot let's say an 11 plus year old ram that by our every effort is legal but close it would be an incredible kick to the boys to have it pulled via human error/judgement/interpretation.

You know there's something wrong with the process when it takes a "machine ' to decide if you've complied with the law. This has bothered me for decades I hate to say.

Every jurisdiction that has a curl restriction has a jig
Nothing wrong with a jig
All a jig should do, is position a skull and hold it. So that it can be assessed to see if it meets the requirement of being a legal ram
Our bios are definitely terrible and a few of them have their own agenda
They cant age a ram

After a big fight. They gave 8-10 rams back last year that they took away. Because the fish cops are incompetent and were measuring to front of eye socket. Rather then front of eye ball with their new jig.

That is a pile of squeakers. You must be good at field judging them.

Some of those rams should never have been siezed as they were well past legal. Lack of training when the jig was implemented for 4/5 played a major role . Regs clearly state eye and F & W decided to use the eye socket.

I’ve heard of them doing this as well. Making up the law as they go along instead of interpreting the plain English in the regs. EYE. Pretty simple.

Do you know what they do with capes if they seize a ram? What happens when they return the horns and the cape has slipped? Can they be held liable for replacing said cape? I’d pursue them for a replacement.

There is no cape when they put them in the jig. You need to bring it in caped and with the lower jaw removed.

When an animal is seized all available parts are seized, including cape and usually meat. If the cape is stored wrong and the seizure is overturned down the road then f&w would have destroyed your lawful property.
