Default First NSR Sturgeon

After putting in about 25hrs of fishing time into, what looked like, a promising spot on the NSR in Edmonton, I finally caught a sturgeon there.

The time put in was not all wasted however, I caught a bunch of nice walleye and goldeye, and a few suckers, before finally setting the hook on a solid sturgeon. It put up a really good battle and I was able to get it in for a quick couple photos and release it.

Ive caught much larger sturgeon in the Fraser, but to catch one right in the hometown, espercially after putting in so much time targetting sturgeon specifically, its the most rewarding fish ive ever caught by far....

Heres a pic, enjoy.

Fraser river is a much larger river so sturgeon there would grow larger, n.s.r is a smaller body of water so sturgeon here stay much smaller or do not grow as larger as the Fraser river sturgeon. And being two different species.
