Adventures in Talbot
Myself and my brother in law loaded up at 2:00 am Wednesday morning and made the 4.5 hour trek west to cross fly fishing lake whites off the bucket list. I'm no stranger to whitefish catching my fair share through ice or open water but on a 9 foot 6 weight it was looking to be an interesting time. All I have to say is we weren't disappointed!
Got onto a big school of whites within 20 minutes of dropping the boat and the fight was on! 20-100 fish at a time swimming circles around my boat within arms reach is something that'll be hard to forget. To make the day a little better we had a young blackie come down to the waters edge for a visit and pose for pictures.
Easily in the top 3 of my best fishing trips!
(Uploading off my phone so can only post one pic at a time)

You've been shown or have discovered a true gem of a place for these fish. I don't know why you would want to take the chance of ruining that by giving direct info about it. Usually takes a good couple outings and some searching to figure those fish out. It was a nice little secret. Until now. And I know it's off the hwy and lots of people fish the lake but it's for pike most don't know about the whites.

The original owner of that secret didnt try to hide it from anyone on this forum. so in my opinion, telling my story and experience thanks to his help isn't going to make me lose sleep at night. If another fisherman who's never caught a lake white, on a fly, in the mountains, can go enjoy a day on the same waters and have one of the best times of their life just from reading this thread, then I'd say I'm just passing it on as speckle did for me.
Plus, even if average joe is fishing for pike, it would be pretty hard not to notice the whites. It's not that easy going out and tying into one of them, but it is easy to realize they're there.

Very kind of you to tell the forum where you have had great success. It will be a very busy lake in the future. That is the reason I will never post a pic or name a location I actually fish. But now it's out there when someone asks where a good place to fish is I will be sure to offer up Talbot because it's a long ways from where I fish. But then again they are whitefish and they have stopped netting them commercially.

Lannie and all the point of this forum is to share stories and info on fishing and the reason I make my post is to teach you how to fish as Brian Chan does or others because if you know how the fish Whitefish then you can do it right at your local lake .. as other AO members have posted that they catch them right in Pigeon or Gull Lake ...Whitefish can be caught in any lake that holds them and are caught .. here is one about lakes down south
http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showt...Lake+Whitefish
I am going to another lake next week to find the Lake Whitefish hunting(feeding)
but hey this is as always
Food for Thought

Nice whites! I have tried to get them a couple times. They were easily spooked when I was there.
Thanks for posting the pics.
Talbot will not become overfished. These guys have made it look easy to catch whites. It's not easy. The bite might not be on, it may be too windy.
