One thing I learned quickly is if u fish tip ups this thing is for you. I took a break to charge my phone in the truck. I left the camera on set a second tip up and watched both smelts while having a snack, no wires no remotes etc.!

Awesome!

Here is the first video I took w/the FishPhone today.
Recorded on my wife's old iphone 4 so quality suffered. Also I was quite a distance from my hook as I didn't want to spook the whites.

http://youtu.be/Rjd_bjXF27g

My opinion after first use is I love this thing!!!
Light, easy to setup and use and very portable so just what I was hoping it would be.

The video doesn't do it justice! In person it is very crisp and much brighter. Next time I'm using my iphone 5 to record.

My new fav device hands down!...lol.

I had a battery booster pack that had a usb socket on it, could plug the phone in, run the fish camera off the lighter socket on it, and still have juice to boost my truck if I needed it. took up next to no room in the tent

Yeah I need to come up with a power solution myself. The FishPhone was still over 75% after a full day use but the stupid iphone had to be charged 3 times...lol.

I have a 12v Powerbar from CT

http://m.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/auto...04p.touch.html

I figure I can mount the 12v 9ah battery I have from the boat fishfinder in the middle compartment of my sled (Commando Maxx) and use a battery strap to keep it in place. I may also use a tupperwear of the right size to keep any water out.

I bought a new battery for the riding mower this spring but it died so Ive been using that battery, lasts forever and doesnt weigh too much to drag around in the sled either

I hear ya! Mine is a sealed lead acid about 1/2 the size of a quad battery and pretty light so that outta do it. Only issue is having to take it in and out of the sled every trip as I store my sled in an unheated garage.

The wind and -35 temps kept me bored @home today so I decided to come up with a more portable power solution. I'm pretty proud of the result.

Light, watertight and flexible enough to serve all my power needs on the ice.

Thanks folks!

I also found a way to use the clamp on camera mount (that attaches to the flipover pole) with the iphone for hands free video viewing. All the while being light, watertight and up outta the way.

Simple otterbox waterproof case I had laying around, a little crazy glue, a 1/4" 20 nut, a touch of boredom and Voila!...

Here is your answer if you just need USB power. It will charge an ipad 5x and is almost endless power for an iPhone.

So the iPhone 4 has always been a temporary "monitor" solution for the FishPhone. I am awaiting the 7" tablet I ordered that will be my main screen for it.
In order to have a semi permanent (but light, and removable) mounting solution for it, I came up with this...

3/4" spade bit @ 45 degree angle in the rear straight through up front and jigsaw to open the holes. I cut the corners off to avoid catching them while moving around inside. A bit of strategically placed duct tape on the poles and voila!

Next step is shooting it w/PlastiDip to make it skid proof.

Sorry to hijack your thread but do you buy your PlastiDip locally?

In the US it is about 6.00 a can and up here I cannot find it for under 20.00 a can.

So I did some testing on this shelf prior to paint and it will hold 6lbs before starting to slip, way more than I'll ever need. I will also add some moulding around the edge on both sides to stop anything rolling off.

I Also plan to add holes for tool storage (pliers, spreaders and the like).
As well, I plan on adding small strips of wood to the underside on the edge of the cut outs to eliminate the small amount of wobble I experienced.

Awesome Job BW.

Battery pack looks great, be nice if it had 2 outlets one for phone and one to power fan on a Big Buddy heater.

Might be a good product for you to make and sell to subsidize future hunting and fishing trips
