I am totally going way out in left field and going to say by far the best trout fishing in a lake that i have found is indeed Abraham lake. Monster bull and lake trout and lots of rockies cutthroat and rainbows. The lake is huge and sees virtually zero fishing pressure.

Hmmm,

Never been there... Looks like there might be a launch at the very NW end of the lake... Are boats allowed in there ? Is there a launch ?

Cheers,

/J...

My vote would be for Maligne Lake in Jasper.

You can't get a nicer setting. Fishing isn't always about catching fish. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, look around and admire what mother nature gave us.

I think I may have seen u out there last year. I was the guy drooling on shore, spincasting, wondering how much a fly rod costs, as I watched u wrangle big bows!
For sure, fly fisherman's dream lake! Minus the view and the chance that 9/10times the wind get's nasty on ya.....but when one does get out there on that 1/10 day where there is no wind....FISH ON!!! n beauties they are indeed.
My favorite trout lake in AB.

Yes there are boats that go on the lake, but I have never seen one. There is warnings allover the lake due to high winds creating big waves. I dont think it would be too big of a problem as long as your boat is big. I always fish from shore or ice fish

Ive caught dollies in there. Some little ones and a 18 or so inch "big one"
They say there are some big ones. Great lake. I also like Rawson.

Default Fortress

My girl and I are hiking into fortress this summer for a few days, and seeing as how you seem to be doing well I was hoping you could make some fly suggestions. I realise your not going to give me your best kept secrets or anything but i just want to be sure im going to catch something.

For the overall experience, I'll vote for Maligne as well.
