Default Bass fishing fever

Anyone else heading out to BC or wherever to do some bass fishing this year?

I'm gonna head to the Kootenays for some pre-spawn bassin in May. Can't wait

Can’t wait to get back down to the lake lot and put the kayak back in the water. Lots of fun pulling those hard fighting fish out from under a dock or from the Lilly pads.

Got a back country portage-only trip into Nopiming Park in Manitoba for top water smallies and early season Pike the first weekend of June. Gonna be epic. There is NOTHING like top water smallie action...

I am from that general area and head back every summer for a couple weeks of bass fishing. Hard to beat the Haliburton/Muskoka area....Kawagama is a beautiful lake

Ya I do love the area. We have a 4th generation family cottage there. (Real cottage, boat access no power) My brother works as a CO and covers the area.

Kawagama is a great lake and there are so many other awesome lakes in the area. You could fish a lifetime and never fish them all. I find Haliburton isn't quite as hoity toity as Muskoka so I actually prefer it.... Is he the CO based out of Minden? If he is, I met him once when he checked my license when I was fishing a pond near crystal lake in my canoe. I paddled him across the pond to check some other fisherman's licences and we had a chat about hunting/fishing.

Gotta love backcountry canoe/portage trips....I am heading to Algonquin park in Ontario the beginning of May for an 8 day canoe trip fishing several remote speckled and lake trout lakes. Can't wait.

My family spent a lot of time doing back-country stuff around Kenora, ON when I was growing up. Lotta crown land area there that's virtually untouched. Amazing camping and fishing!

Don't forget Boundary Dam Reservoir south of Estavan, SK for stocked- and naturally reproducing- largemouth bass in the warm water created by the coal fired electrical plant there. Plus the pike, perch & walleye.

A lot closer than Ontario and less expensive than B.C.

That is pretty far north. Have you been there before?

In southern ON, the smallies are still on their beds on the first week of June, and the topwater bite does not pick up until mid-July. Smallies are still eager enough to take clousers and leeches though. I bet the pike bit would be epic at that time of year though.

Used to guide up around nopiming for Smallmouth mid-june is prime, this year everything could be a few weeks later though. I think Manitoba's getting the same crap we're getting here in Alberta could be a late spring.

Born and raised in Pinawa.....the Nop and Whiteshell were my back and front yard growing up Yeah, curious if water temps will be warm enough for Smallies to be active, but the Eyes and Pike will be in fine form, either way. Going to be a chilly but fun trip!

Last year was good on me for bass. Koocanusa’s lakes contain many small bass. It was really cool!

I wasn’t talking about lake Koocanusa. There are small lakes in the region containing bass. Lol

I'll be heading down to Lac Coeur d'Alene in Idaho again this year. Caught my first largemouth there last year and numerous smallmouth. Also pike and a solitary kokanee while trolling for landlocked Chinook. The largemouth wasn't very big, but sure was purdy!
