Just wondering if you are referring to racing type RC boats or the Really fun RC battle ships that shoot BB's or 1/4 " ball bearings at each other and actually sink your opponents. You Tube has some cool videos. Always wanted to build one of those................

I am not aware of any "rules". I use mine on Wabamun, which is not ideal, you are going to want a very calm lake for a fast boat. No one has ever given me any grief about it.

Traxxas spartan is fast and pretty good out of the box. All I did with mine was mess around with props and put a bigger rudder and cooling jacket on it. Be careful with "ride height" (or whatever it's called), nose up is pretty unstable but too much boat in the water is slow and will puff (ruin) 3S LiPo batteries real quick (which gets expensive).

Let us know what you get!
