Talking Buying new pick-up Xmas-New Year period?

Hi all.

I purchased my last 1/2 ton off the local Chevy dealership's lot in September of 2010. GM was running a model year clearance sale and I received $10,000 discount on a $43,000 MSRP truck (roughly 24% reduction). Very happy with the price and subsequent sterling service of the said truck.

I am back in the market for a new 1/2 ton and am mainly looking at;

1. 2018 Chev Silverado 1500, LS trim, double- or crew- cab, 4x4, V8, standard bed (pretty much what I have right now)

2 2018 Ford F150, STX trim, super- or- crew cab, 4x4, 2.7 or 5.0 litre, standard bed

As you can tell, I want a reasonable amount of truck, not a Texas Caddy.

As of writing, incentives on either of the above trucks are around $6000. Which is not enough to make me move...

I am wondering if anyone would recommend buying during the Holidays or has insight as to what manufacturers may offer over next few weeks to move vehicles off their lots?

-Willy

Arrow 2017's

This time of year, your Best Deals will be found on what's left of their new 2017 stock.

Shop around ... a few dealerships have new '17 models still on their lots.

An old car salesman friend of mine said that he figured end of January was a good time to try to buy a vehicle. Kind of a slow time for them. But if you find a carryover one that fits what you need now I think it’s best to try and make a deal while it’s still available.

I’ve boughten 4 new vehicles the last 10 years all around mid February to end of March. Every one I bought was within 800.00 to 1000.00 of employee pricing on new current model year. If you can wait, I would say to start shopping end of January.

There's no reason, you shouldn't be able to pull off the same sort of discount, as you did back in 2010, on remaining 2017 stock.

I've heard February is always a good month to buy. Dealership sales reps have quotas to fill per month. Apparently the quota is the same for every month but as Feb only has 28 days, makes it harder to hit so they're more willing to negotiate. Could be an old wives tales, just something I heard that seems to make sense.
