Tuf line sturgeon leader.. and power pro is a brand name, and yes the weight is on a slider. I like 3/0 gamagatsu hooks with a worm or minnow

I use 30-40 Lb mono. the sliding weight is the way to go. use a snap swivel on your main line with the weight attached so it can slide up and down. use a barrel swivel to attach your leader and to stop the weight from sliding down over your hook. for hooks I use 4/0 or 5/0 Gamakatsu octopus hooks. for bait I use worms. sometimes i use minnows but worms work best for me. good luck!!

Looks like a big lindy rig. When fishing it do you keep bail open and feed line on a bite?

I don't know anything about Sturg fishing, but would leaving the bail open not allow them to swallow the bait, instead of a mouth hook set?

You do not want them to swallow the hook into their stomach. The hook tears their guts open and you have a dead sturgeon. Even if you cut off the line the damage is done. You do not want to kill one of these guys as the males don't mature for 15 years approx. and the females for 30 years approx. and they can live for a 100 years.

See if you can find some dacron leader 50lb really nice stuff.. if not the mono will be fine, I make my leaders about 20-24" but I think it is just personal preference.
