If you're talking about Spray that's up above Canmore (my first time going there yesterday) it's completely open. We were in Canmore for the Grizzly Paw Brewery 20th Ann'y party, and went for a drive to see how far that road goes past the Nordic Centre....holy crap there's some beautiful scenery and awesome little places to fish. I think we saw a half dozen people fishing a couple different lakes, including Spray, while we were up there...

I don't know. I was up there last weekend and it was pretty covered. Perhaps you didn't drive far enough down. The end of the lake is ice free. The main part not so much.

It is a distinct possibility that we were only at the bottom end of the lake......

We have a larger 21', deep-V hull boat and couldn't launch it until almost mid-July last year due to water levels being so low. Not sure what levels were like pre-floods of 2013, but they've been very low in early 2014 and 2015 till mid-July.
