the part where the fella says that it will be " quite an eyeopener " i am assuming he is talking about when the sellers/trappers open there mail and see a rubber cheque notice from their friendly and ever understanding bank manager

I'd hardly call it a devastating hit to the fur industry, unfortunate that so many will lose jobs but not devastating.
