Question Morinville / Cardiff Ponds

I want to go out Saturday morning for a little fishing. Has anyone been to either of these places lately? If so what were the conditions like, snow, ice, and fish?
As well I have fished for trout lots in the summer with worms and a pickerel rig, what is the best way to go after them in the winter through the ice?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be driving by the Morinville Res this afternoon and I'll let you know what it's like. I've seen tents out there so I'm thinking that the conditions are good. Around here flood water on the ice seems to be the only big issue but I haven't noticed anything on the M Res.

Allot of people put a piece of shrimp on their hook to fish in there, and it works well. There are lots of little perch in there now that'll steal your bait thanks to the bucket brigade so bring a bit of bait.

I was out last saturday, ended up going to morinville instead of cardiff. The bite was slow to steady, we managed to get about a dozen decent perch up the hole in 3 hours and missed alot as they seem to be just nibbling instead of biting. could not drive into morinville pond the road was rutted up bad,had to park the truck along the road and walk in

The biggest was just over 7 inches and the rest where roughly 6 inches. They where not huge but considering the last time I was there the perch we caught where all around the 4" range these looked huge lol
