Default Fish Creek Park - Cougar Warning

A cougar warning has been issued for Fish Creek Park. Keep safe out there my angling friends if decide to venture to the park to fish the river.

Wink

Still think you have much better odds of encountering a two legged cougar in Fish Creek Park!!!

Sketchy! I'm more afraid of running into a cougar than a bear. So long as you don't surprise it, or get in between momma and cubs, you stand a good chance with a bear. A cougar will hunt you like a deer, and jump you the same way. I have met way more people that have been mauled by cougars than bears.

I am just the reverse. I know three people attacked by black bear and none by cougars. There are predatory black bear attacks.

When I was a lad had a drinking buddy that would pop out his glass eye to freak out strangers. The real one had been clawed out by a cougar.

+1
I am way more afraid of cougars than bears. At least a bear will display signs of it's frustration, fear, aggression, etc, long before it attacks. I had a close encounter with a grizzly a couple years ago while fishing the Kananaskis River. It saw me long before I saw it, and it kept its distance and altered its route to go around me. I left as soon as I saw it so as not to give it any reason to change its mind about me...

Best policy would be to respect them both. I do!

Do you really believe that cougars are only in the park when there is a warning?
