Default Fishing Bullshead Reservoir

Has anyone fished Bullshead Reservoir lately and how is it fishing? There is also another lake nearby, Michelle Reservoir, and wondering if this is worth fishing?

Bullshead is fishing a little slower than years past. Some blame it on winter kill, I think it's because of all the pressure the fish face. It is a very popular lake with lot's of 20" plus trout. Just don't expect an easy time of it. Michelle has lots of eager pan fries.

Thanks for the info. Do leeches and chironomids work well?

Pay attention to what is happening in the water, match what you see. I have had luck with a variety of flies, smaller seems to be better. Chironimids and leeches both work as well. A size 16 skip nymph can be the best fly at times, but if I was limited to one for BH it would be a size 14 or 16 grey scud. A large dragon fly nymph can be killer at times as well, they should be staging soon.

Bottom bounced balanced leeches were the ticket the other day, when changing locations trolling an olive willie also produced. BH has never been a numbers pond for me but a single fat 24" fish can make the 3 hr one way drive worth it.

Some similarities between Ressor and Michel. Both are put & takes, stocked with big numbers and fished heavy. Lots of opportunity for smaller fish in both. I have caught the odd larger fish in Michel (nowhere close to Bullshead sizes), but never anything of any size in Reesor, even years ago when I fished it as a kid.
