I've spent my time not catching fish on local lakes.

I was wondering if anyone has fished the Crowsnest lately. How high and brown? That would be an option to scratch the stream itch.

It's a good time to be out on the lakes and ponds now. Good time for chironomids.

The bow in calgary is flowing 293 cm/s right now. Does anyone remember what.it peaked at during 2013 flood?

I think it peaked at 1300 cm/s in 2013, it was something ridiculous like that

Bow? Unfishable? Nobody told the fish.

Granted this was caught 230cms---not the 300 that it is clipping along at now. Looking at the snow pack data and reservoir levels, this is probably peak flow. As soon as the flow rate stabilizes the fish will be hungry---browns are more comfortable with the extra cover and the rainbows will be post-spawn ravenous. Flow rates could stabilize by the end of the weekend.

Just methodically work the banks. Bring lots of hooks. All the terrestrial vegetation that has grown within the high water mark results in a high donation rate.

If you really need a fix and have a boat, the pike will be easy to catch until about mid-June.

I remember remarking that it was 10x the normal flow rate, so I think it might have been 2500cms, stabilizing to about 1500cms when the rain stopped.

Yeah I haven't been out since the weekend. But since then its up another 70 cms as you say. Certainly too much for my drift boat hahaha.....I think it's gonna be 3-4 weeks until we get into anything consistent, but it will be worth it I think we are going to have a good strong year! Forecast is calling for flows around 250 until early/mid July

I am thankful I live in a lake community. I can "scratch that itch" anytime the park is open and I avoid my honey do list. Lately it's been fishing well but mainly on pheasant tails. Mostly getting smaller browns and the odd brookie they stocked this year, but have had a few nice rainbows too.
