Day 1-Headed out Early to look for some headwaters but what we found were disapointing so we hit up the Tay River. They Tay produced limited fish as of last time aswell. Then we spent the majority of the at tributary of the Clearwater River. After 2 hours of fishing we were spotting brookies but they wouldnt take anything because they were too busy chasing each other around the slack water. After the water warmed up jake landed the first brownie of the day that took his fly 3 times before he finially got hooked in a corner pool. Upstream I landed a 15.5'' Brownie on a Orange Foam Bug. All browns that day with zero brookies in the net! No the river were we got the browns is not Stauffer.
Day 2-Bought a new net then Hit the RDR with a few buddies on the spey rod.The weather has been weird with really bright sunny periods then dull. Tight lipped today and there getting less and less abundant which means there migrating back down south(Goldeye). Had 4 hits on the swung dry fly all were soft takes so water temperature has been taking a toll on fish all over now.
We got a close up of that small brownie with an amazing coloration on it!
Its awesome to catch these guys right in your backyard.
