You are offended because they are having a meeting?

The fact that there is even a meeting concerning this is ridiculous.

Why is it concerning? I try not to tell businesses how to run their business, I'm sure they will make the decision that benefits them the most, that's business.

I haven't supported them since their anti-hunting stance. This will make no difference to me.

It is ridiculous because with a little bit of foresight they would see that this not worth wasting the time of several expensive people who now have to attend a meeting.

If it was YOUR business, and it was YOUR customers making the complaints/petitions, wouldn't it be in your best interest to at least listen to what your customers are saying? I know that if I owned my own business I would certainly listen to feedback from anyone who is handing over their hard earned money, I could make a good business decision once I've heard/listened and reviewed it.

MEC knows their customer base quite well, and they know how much of the brands in question they sell. They know ahead of time the consequences of further alienating an already wavering customer base.
I don't think for one second they seriously considered halting the sale of "brands that are owned by a company that owns a company that makes firearms similar to the one used recently in a mass shooting" .

Not much of a surprise. MEC is anti hunting and has said so for years. That's their corporate position. My position is to not support them.

When I heard about MEC doing this, I cut my MEC membership card in half & threw it in the trash. I'm done with these fools.

Funny, why did MEC have the documentation of the financial transactions creating Y2Y available on their webpage (now deleted)?
Were they lying about it then?

Unless you are privy to information about MEC's decision on this subject?
The article states that some random people/members have asked MEC to stop supporting Vista. MEC has not agreed to do so as of yet.
Wait for the decision before you decide to lambaste the company...

Here's another way to look at it.
We all have principles...and guess what folks...not everyone's principles are going to mesh with our/mine/yours.
As witness here...even on issues such as the speed limit...everyone here has different principles.
I for one, if they go through with this admire a management that puts their principles before profit.
We don't have to like it...and we can choose not to give them our money...but as I mentioned earlier, it isn't as though we don't have hundreds of shopping option that are only a 'click' away.

did they not make a decision by saying
"The retailer said its existing inventory of Bushnell, CamelBak, Camp Chef, Jimmy Styks and Bolle gear will remain on its shelves until it is sold, but it has suspended further orders of the brands owned by Vista Outdoor"

Yes they did. Today or yesterday but not on the 26th when RavYak posted this.

Can anyone point me to any resources that illustrate MEC's anti hunting stance? I want to get an idea of if it is specific hunts they oppose, supporting anti-organizations, or actual mission statement language against hunting in general.

For those interested, this is the clearest statement I could find on MEC and hunting off a facebook post. Essentially, they are walking a fine line that you can interpret as being neutral or anti, depending on how you view their relationship with some of the organizations they support.

I would suggest anyone who dislikes this should post a well worded counter petition and start circulating fast.
Companies do respond to this stuff. So one either needs to participate in the process or sit back and complain when complainers win.

Pretty sure the complainers just won. I won’t be supporting MEC.

Why is there so much angst on this board over a company that caters to hikers. We get MEC news on here every couple of months. I swear some of you are just looking to get butt hurt. Don't support them, end of story, although I doubt they care. Most of you don't support them in the first place.
