Default Cold Lake Report

Managed to get out on good old Cold lake couple times on my week off, and what a great decision it was. With lots of snow on the lake I was glad for the warm weather, packed it down enough I could get the car out there. Both days were rather warm and enjoyable, second one bright and sunny. I was fishing in 85-100 feet of water managed 10 holes with the hand auger through 24 inches ice, with my cold it wasnt an easy task. First day was rather slow only managed to land 2 missing a couple others.
first one of the day 25"

second of the day and my now biggest laker 32.5 inches around 16lbs. was in 95fow saw it come on the screen at 35 reeled up and barely passed him when it smacked my tube jig awesome fight and beauty fish, in my eyes

Second day was a lot more action managed to pull in 7 and missed 5 more very active day all were hanging close to bottom but would come up when droping my bait and had several chase from bottom almost to the serface before hitting, first time this tactic has ever worked for me and I sure enjoyed it and never would have landed any without my electronics

first of the day

a decent 26.5"

Then this guy showed up when i saw it under the ice i didnt know what to do it wouldnt tun its head to come up after some percistence and some tense moments he turned and came up throuh my 8 inch hole with little room to spare 31" 19" girth by far the fattest laker ive ever hooked. I had just released one and dropped back down when he hit didnt even see him on the screen.

I was havin a couple follows up 20' off bottom and one knock but couldnt get them to commit till this guy came on the screen, id been reeleing up and stopping and having some come hit but most would stop or go back down so when I seen this one come on the screen i just kept reeling and the faster it went the faster I did till I felt the whack then set the hook and the fight was on with several long runs too it was great pulled out this 31.5" with 16" girth

ended the day super happy and looking forward to next year when I can get back on the ice again I know where Ill be spending a lot of time!

Gotta love lakers! Good job! Love when they chase it to the ice, then peel you out to the bottom!

Fishing was slow but sort of steady for us. Lost 2 got 2 and left by 12:30. However, there was someone near us and they had a flasher. They did mark alot of fish in the bottom, or perhaps the same fish that was curious but not committed.

That's what we found. They were there but didn't want to take our bait.

Damn, we were there all day yesterday and got one or two bites but didn't land anything. I guess that means I need more practice which is fine with me.

What a smokin good report. Congrats on the days out! Hand drilling 10 holes...yep, arm sore time

One question, are those single hook tubes or do you include a stinger? Just picked some up that are not and I'm curious.

Damn, I was hoping to get one last trip in. I fly out Thursday for a week and the warm weather that is supposed to come this weekend might ruin my plans that I had for my next set off. Damn you global warming!!!!!
