He's right, good ones to, shad raps, jointed countdowns, x-raps, trolls to's, etc. or just spend a little extra and get the only cranks you'll ever need.....live targets.

From Rapala's web site = Factories in Finland, France, Ireland, Estonia, and China
Not Canada, USA or even Mexico?
I still buy brand name lures but don't hurt to play around with other stuff to see what it is about, just sayin.

Got some of my hooks in the mail , they came in a huge box in plastic bags , lol I had a laugh and was thinking they looked like bundles of Cocane and sure enough the box had been opened and re taped shut I think Customs had a little peak inside . Anyway none the less 135 of my hooks have arrived and to my surprise very shocked at the quality of the hooks . Split rings and hooks junk but the bodys are fine and not even a crappy paint job . For what I paid and will have over 250 fishhooks Im laughing all the way to the bank . I ordered some Gamakatsu treble hooks and heavy duty split rings which cost me 33.00 shipped for a 1000 of each .

amazing the deals you can get on line. I bought all my reels on ebay and got great deals. The American fisherman have the keep up with the Johnsons mentality so brand new reels that are a couple years old go for cheap.

I like a deal as much as the next guy but i try not to buy junk. You pay when you get it and you pay when it falls apart.
/I don't use cheap stuff when Im fishing.

And I 100 % agree with you , But Ill be 100 % honest with you these crank baits nothing wrong with them if you are the occasional fisherman , the hooks they got on there are Cheap eagle claw hooks , so I bought some Gamakatsu hooks and replace the old ones and laugh all the way . Theres nothing cheap about the Crankbaits . I just want to upgrade but Like I mentioned I will buy a 12 dollar Rapala and change the hooks .

Lots of good points and arguments here boys. Not sure how to settle this. Which is better, raps, knockoffs, china rips or locally made.
I'm gonna bite the bullet here and volunteer to be the official hook tester.
Send me your best and I'll let you know what I think of them.
Don't be stingy either...may need a couple three of each, in different colours, in order to get a true test.
Just trying to help where I can.

By far my go to hooks . They stay sharper longer , and when it comes time to sharpening them when you got to , very simple to do .

Gamakatsu are pretty hard to beat IMO, but I use a lot of Mustad hooks as well. I tie just about all my spinner rigs with Mustads.
