Just tie the message tags to the birds legs and let them go. It's up to the pigeon to navigate over ice, snow and water.

Is a squab the same thing?

3 feet of ice.
Starting to rot a bit. Im still driving on. Still pretty solid. In another week it maybe questionable.
Slush around the lake edge.
