Default Ottawa suggesting we make February a 'Dry Month'

According to health 'experts', ANY amount of alcohol can cause cancer. So the finger-waggers in Ottawa want cancer 'Warning Labels' on every bottle/can - for starters. In French & English no doubt, - and maybe soon to be followed by photos of cancerous organs and dying like cigarette packages? No doubt they'll want laws to limit your consumption, maybe enforcement?

I'm starting to get ads on my FaceBook feed to consider making February a "Dry Month". Not satisfied with vilifying anyone associated with fossil fuels, and legislating hundreds of thousands out of work (transitioning), looks like they're going to start on the alcohol industry. I wonder how grain farmers, wineries, distilleries, retailers, bars, lounges and restaurants feel about their government pushing for drastic reduction in use of their products?

The interesting part of this "study" it says drinking more than 6 drinks a week greatly increases chances of stroke or heart attack. Hmmm.....they came up with a cause anyways

I've pretty much had enough of the lieberals telling me what is good for me and what isn't. Take our guns and booze away and they will have real problems!

How about we have a tobacco free month, tobacco kills more people than alcohol.

How about we have a socialist free month?

Socialism has killed more people than alcohol and tobacco combined

Living causes cancer, the longer you live, the more likely you're to get it. Better enjoy the trip.

I guess this means Trudeau will have to stop singing Bohemian Rhapsody and give up his Cosmopolitans for a month?

This thread is stressful. Stress is bad for your health and contributes to cancer, strokes, and heart attack.

I'm gonna go have a drink. Not drinking is bad for my mental health, thinking about missing out on a nice glass of wine or a good whisky.

And the Nanny that wants to keep telling me how to live, what to eat, what to drink, how to think and what I can say?

Well, I can't say here what I'd like to communicate to Nanny. I'm a respectable mod. With a nice drink in my hand now.

Does this mean parliamentarians won't be having their regular back room booze fueled parties after every "work" day for a whole month?

Number of relatives were definitely heavy drinkers for years , none DIED of cancer but for sure they would have had better lives and their wives and kids too if they didn't drink booze . Oh wait one cousin did drink herself to death in her forties , just couldn't be helped . Couple of cousins are alkies , one is brain damaged from it . Probably 20% of the relatives are/were serious alcoholics . l have a feeling that isn't too far off the average .

This is one of the better articles I've seen on the topic, and already a candidate for headline of the year IMHO.

Dry month because alcohol contributes to cancer??
What a load of bull fertilizer!
Living in today's society of fast food and big pharma contributes to causing cancer- prove me wrong!

This photo of a moonshine still is thought to have been taken in about 1901. Ben Hadaller, the photo's original contributor, found it among his father Matt's possessions. Ben recalled traveling on more than one occasion with his father to a place in Onalaska called "Moonshine Alley" where many locals went to find their moonshine. How to tell if the moonshine is good? Hold a match about an inch-and-a-half above the jug, and if the flame is blue the moonshine is good.

Yep.

Not to say alcohol isn't dangerous as hell and for some either taking some time off from drinking or reducing their intake is a good thing, but to use the C word as the reason for why folks should stop drinking? Huh.
