A very touching story and a great tribute. These are the trips that truley mean the most. Fishing that tackle would have been moving enough, the fact that you got to be in such an amazing location and reel in some beauties is just icing on the cake.
Hats of to you.

Thanks for posting....
I sometimes drive 250km (1 way) from home to fish,
It's not always about the size, or the numbers...
The adventure , the views , the time , memory's
If you like standing around a hole in a field Crosby have at her
Some people take a little more away from a trip then a fish easley obataion close to home.
PS if u look a little closer Crosby u might see a little more info.

Great post, great story!...
I respect you and the having the testicinal fortitude to hang them on the wire so to speak!...
Great fish, awesom lake. I lived in central interior of Bc and fished some very cool lakes very similar to that one and loved every minute of it... and that was ebfore I started fly fishing. I plan on getting out in BC this summer and trying a few of my honeyholes that I used to fish and see how things turn out!....
Cheers!... and thank you very much for posting...
The fact that you have went through a loss that I can only imagine just makes it that much more special. I am sure you had many memories on that day and thank you for sharing them!...
Have a great day!....

Thank you all for the wonderful responses. I'll be busy with cattle for the next 8 or 9 days, but hope to have a couple slack days around the 16th for more adventures in some isolated water with the flyrod and camera. Once again, thank you for all the gracious responses and pm's.

Really nice fish, looks like it was fun.
I don't think crosby was trying to be a dink. The thread name made it kind of sound like the travel to the lake was a chore. I took it as him telling the OP he didn't have to go through the trouble of a 40KM trip through remote country to find fish of that calibre.
An 11 pound rainbow on a flyrod would be awesome!

Thanks for the pics and the story...and sorry for your loss. Those pics do remind me of Northern Sask where my dad and I used to go fishing. The trip and just floating on a crystal clear lake in the canoe with my Dad was way more important to me than catching any fish. Fish were the bonus to a great trip and time on the water.
Thanks again.

Lovely story, sad to hear about your wife though. Nice fish and glad you had the chance to envoke wonderful memories of your wife with your trip.

Got the chance to head back out for another adventurous day in the wilderness. Action was fairly steady, altho heat had some effect. Caught another dozen nice sized bows. Sorry, but only brought into the boat and photoed the 2 that buddy and I decided to fry up.

NO KIDDING!!! Honestly can't say I've ever been to anywhere so hot that my face would melt. Wonder how that feels like.
