That's a gooder for sure! It's been years since I've caught a giant pike. I used to guide up at Lloyd lake lodge, and fly way up north to a lake that my dads friend had the only cabin on(right on the corner of AB, SK, and NWT). I miss those days, and the slobs we used to catch. I don't think I have any pics from there, haven't been up there since the early 90's.

I have never had the chance to fish it in the winter, but I bet you it would be great.
Imagine the monsters you could pull out at the end of winter if it was legal to use bait.

You wouldn't believe the Pike biting on a 5 of diamonds jigged through the ice........ Yah if a guy could use a tip up and a smelt one could only imagine

How is the new ice fishing record only 33#2oz when several fish bigger than that are pulled out every year at Tobin alone? What is the process to even register an ice fishing world record?

As I am curious on this too. I know of one AO member who has a 32 & 34 pounder on his wall that he pulled through the ice @ Pigeon.

The answer is that North Ameria has two record holding books for fishing one is IGFA(International Game Fish Assoc)in Florida and it holds WR for fresh water and Salt/ C&R too but it has to be caught on a rod and reel and is all over the world .. the other is for North American and is just fresh water but they have a Ice fishing division and hand line /tip up too C&R .. it is in Hayward Wis and is called Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame.. i have the record books for both so anyone needs info just post me..fish have to be reg as quick as possible but IGFA has to be in 60 days of catch..

you can google either

I have reg paper just like B&C score sheets

I have held 4 WR for fishing in 3 diff species
here is my Brookie at 12#13oz

Some big boys from Alberta.

Caught 2 18lb pike ice fishing the last few days, still have to upload those pictures. And a few more from last season.

Was on the ice 2 days ago with a friend. He had what we believe to be a 30-35+ to the hole! then the hook managed to hook on the ice and bye bye fishy!
