Welcome back Zip!
Good to see it is starting to melt. We are at least 1-2 weeks behind last year but should all be open by 1st weekend in May which is good enough.

Maybe by the time the ice is off the lake the frickin snow might be off my boat LOL Every time I think it's time to pull the covers off, it snows again. Just like in the last week 5 more inches on it. Damn it Janet!!! I know it's only April. Keep us posted with the pics Zip. The reports and pics are awesome.

What are the public boat launches like currently around Sylvan?

Particularly around Jarvis Bay, I'd like to go this weekend if the weather improves. Never been on the water out there. Where is a good place to launch?

I tried to send you a P/M, but the systems says you have chosen not to accept P/M's, so here you go.

There's NO boat launches in or around Jarvis Bay. There are only two in Sylvan that have paved ramps with docks, these are:

1.) The Marina downtown by the Lighthouse, it's called the Launch, they charge $40.00 & that may be to launch only & then another $40.00 to load, you should investigate, they sell discounted passes, too. Parking is limited on the street if you can find a spot.

Website: http://thelaunchsylvan.ca/#!/passes

2.) Sunbreaker Cove off Rainy Creek Road, Range Road 22 on the north side of the lake, is operated by Lacolmbe County & they started charging user fee's this year. Paved ramps, docks, toilets & lots parking. Sometimes very busy people have complained they waited 1 hr or more to load at end of the day.

$20/day to launch and park,
$10 to launch only,
$10 for additional vehicle parking only with no trailer

Website: https://www.lacombecounty.com/index....nd-boat-launch

The other places people launch that don't wish to pay is down the gravel Range Roads (#20-Honeymoon Bay, #21-Half Moon Bay, #23 were Camps located) all on the South side of the lake. These are gravel roads that exit into the lake, very shallow, no docks, no toilets & parking in the ditch, if you struggle to back up a trailer & don't have a truck that you can back into the water, then these locations aren't recommended.

Trust this helps.

Cheers

D.

Thank you for the reply. This helps.

We didn't go on Saturday, put the boat back in the water and lounged at Gull on Sunday. It was pretty busy so I imagine Sylvan was three times busier. I'm still new to the boat life so I'm going to stay to the smaller spot(s) for now to get some practice and confidence.
