Default Sylvan lake marina totally ripping of the public

Was going to launch the boat this afternoon and take the wife out for a ride, pulled into the marina and saw $40.00 per launch sign. I went inside to ask if this was a joke or something, and they said" nope if I had it my way it would be higher"! He also said well if you like you can buy a 10 launch pass for $330.00!

I laughed in his face and said " nice of you to rape the locals who have supported this marina since it was built, good luck you guys must be off your rocker If you think I'm paying that!"

Starting to see the real colors of the new owners now, can't wait to see what they do when they go through with the condos, probably hike the launch fee to a $100.00. I am totally disappointed in how they are pushing us away!

Well there must be people willing to pay that if they're charging that much, and if people are choosing to pay it then I guess they're not getting ripped off. Good thing is there are free launches elsewhere on the lake.

Been to many marina across north America, never heard of $40.00 to launch any where! Especially not a crappy little place like sylvan, and by the way there is not launches everywhere around the lake. There are two that are descent enough to call launches.

I suspect they are trying to discourage anyone from using the launch so they can make it exclusive and private. That way they can claim they still offer public access, even though they have in effect privatized it.

Or Drive north a bit and launch at gull.

Or come south and fish some decent lakes that aren't over run with boats like Sylvan.

That's right 40 each launch. The gates will be locked except 9 to 9
Guess you can go fishing when the swamp boats go out

They promised the town to maintain public access. Good luck calling it public access when you can't even buy a season pass.

Town votes on it Monday night so better send you email soon

These guys don't want a mArina just condos. No money in a marina.

Why should towns people have to leave town to launch a boat.

Default Stay away from Sylvan

thats what I do with all the people and developement the place will be polluted, if not already, soon anyway. That lake used to be so clean, spring feed, a rare gem in Alberta. Greed will be its demise.

I'm nt sure what your 'speed launch' is? It looks like you are saying you rip someone off for $30 .
Is that correct? If I got it wrong can you explain the speed launch please?

He's saying for the marina to have people back your truck and trailer in so you can drive your boat off trailer . And get to fishing . Rather then do it all yourself for 30.00.

Cool

no speed launch is when we get the boat in the water in 5 seconds flat and we're gone .as in no one sees it happen and we dont pay the 30$. you need to have more than one truck. if you want to get the boat out again.

Cold Lake Marina $8.00 (concrete 2 trailer width ramp, washrooms, restaurant and ice-cream chop at marina, gas and water and pump-out at marina, no showers yet)

Cold Lake Provincial Park slip $0.00 at both ramps

All other lakes around Cold Lake $0.00. Some have concrete ramps, some don't.
