Default Our Tarpon Fishing YouTube Video

Here is a link to a YouTube video from our fly fishing trip to Cuba in May for Tarpon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrbeVD7vjso

It is about 10 minutes long and if you are not a Metallica fan you might want to set the volume fairly low. It gives you a pretty good idea of what the fishing can be like, but it is a summary of many days on the water (some of which were not too action packed). Of course shrinking it down for YouTube murders the quality. We have a 1/2 hour HD version that is much better. I hope you enjoy it. We had a pile of fun getting the footage.

If you missed the original thread I posted on this trip, here is a link:

Looks like a sucessfull trip. I was out in Cuba last May. Did some bone fishing. Caught some nice bones. But tried for tarpon one day with no luck.

What wt of rod do you guys use? What sort of flies are you using for them?

What guide did you use out there? Do you happen to have some contact information for them. I can't wait to get back there again.

Where were you staying at. We were over in Cayo Coco last time. There are a few guides out of there. But I wouldn't recommend the one I had. I had to convince him that it was going to be good to cast even if it was going to be a bit windy. Hell it's always windy in the afternoon out there anyway. So you bring big enough rods to be able to cast properly even in the wind.

By the way what wt of rods do you use for the tarpon?

Mostly 11 and 12 wts on the Tarpon. The most popular flies were Toads and Destroyer type flies.

It's a package deal and a bit on the pricey side but check out the Avalon website posted above.
