Default Scout camp

Hello I am planning a scout camp, 2-4 July.
Things I need.

2-3 KM hike maximum 1 way
Back Country camp on a lake with fishing (prefer trout)
No more than 3 hrs drive 1 way to beginning of hike (Leaving edmonton)
Like the idea of mountain lakes. We cannot afford national parks p*****. free camping for boys under 16 is a must as we have a very limited budget.

Ideas fast please.

Like I said on FB, if you were down in SoAB, I could point out some great spots! But we never went out fishing when I lived in E-Town so I don't know where any of the good spots are up there.

I'm sure there's someone on here that could help you out!

Default Fish (Shunda) Lake, Nordegg

I'm one of the Cub leaders for Lynwood 116. If you guys need a hand, PM me. Our group is pretty experienced. As for a great spot to go, try Fish Lake by Nordegg. Forestry camp ground, front range rockies, day trip to Bighorn Dam, fish Shunda Creek for Browns, Shunda lake for Rainbows. Walk around the lake, takes a few hours. Go see the ghost town where the old mine was, etc.

Have you looked at Chickakoo Lake (about 40 km west of Edmonton)? There is the Boy Scout camp there. You should be able to arrange something with them. They have hiking trails, fishing, geocaching and probably lots of other stuff.
