Default Steelhead flies for Bows?

Is there any reason (other than the size of the fly) why steelhead fly patterns wouldn't work with rainbows/browns/cuts/bulls?

I am not a good fly fisherman but I don't see why they wouldn't. Maybe not as good as some other choices but overall you can catch trout on all sorts of different flies and lures that don't represent anything in particular.

They totally work. Egg sucking leaches, any big black or purple streamer, and even egg patterns will all pull trout out of the Bow. The biggest brown Ive caught on the Bow was on a steelhead fly. And bull trout/dollies will eat anything, we catch lots on the copper and kalum on steelhead flies.

for what it's worth,,,,,,,,catch alot of steelhead on trout flies. certainly in low/clear water, often they work better. nymphs, dries, streamers. just need the good hooks. my fav dry is a royal wulff..... for rainbows/browns and androgynous rainbows/browns.

stonefly nymphs, girdle bugs,ect.

afterall, steelhead are rainbows.

sorry for the derail. just dreaming of steelhead, and the rivers they visit.

Just wondering what "good hooks" mean.

Do you have a particular brand other than Mustad Tiemco, Dachi?

Thanks

I see your point.

No use cheaping out.

A quality hook is nothing when you consider the cost of the rest of one's equipment.

Thanks for the reply.

Hey Braggadoe...don't be talking about your kinky androgynous fish.
I think you might mean anadromous

I remembered the two terms with catadromous being like a dead cat floating down a river. Pretty sick, but marks are marks.
