Beauty day with the snow, almost like pond hockey.

I'm watching. 100000 people watching a hockey game outdoors in a snowy day. It should be good

With all the snow, it makes for crappy hockey. Might as well put a tennis ball out there. Good for all the "plumbers" I guess. Couldn't pay me to go to a game like that live, especially if you could only afford the lower rows. Stand for 3 1/2 hours just to barely even see the ice surface. Entertaining to see 105,000 fans though. Can't wait to watch the 4th episode of 24/7!.

Going to a game like this is less about the game itself and more about the spectacle of the event. A once in a lifetime opportunity. As for the on ice quality, well the LEafs are playing, so that explains it

I was reading about it on-line and had to chuckle when they said that the fans were braving the 'frigid' temperatures (and the article stated that the temperature was expected to be about -10 C). I remember watching an earlier version of the Winter Classic; it was no colder than -15 C and the players were complaining about how brutally cold it was........I chuckled when I remembered that 0 F is about -16 C; we used to play hockey outside when it was -20 C or colder. We weren't making 5 or 10 million US per season, either........So, it's pretty hard for me to feel sorry for the players (or the fans, for that matter).

Happy New Year!
Hawkeye

Yeah I realize that. 105,000 agree with you. But for myself...to pay a couple hundred dollars to stand for hours, watch sub-par NHL level hockey, and get this kind of view....*yawn*....sorry, not interested.

I can see why someone as bitter as yourself would be repulsed at the idea of spending a day with 105,000 people who are in a happy, cheerful mood.

You know SFA about me. How I choose to spend my money on entertaining hockey is my business, no? Can I not express my own thought, just as the OP or anyone else can? Or is it just because it's me? You're another one who likes to follow me around like a puppy dog. Put me on ignore if I annoy you so much. So bugger off.

I spent the whole holidays watching the entire Macs Midget tournament, and go to probably over 50 junior games a year as a season ticket holder....As well as host huge parties at my house. You don't know me one single iota.

Zing!

But yeah, awesome event. I only got three hours sleep yesterday (10 hour shift at work and then fire department call shortly after getting home) so sadly I wasn't up for the opening ceremonies which is always awesome. But what I have been able to see has been great and very enjoyable to watch. The snow really gives it that feel of playing on an outdoor rink which all of us did as kids.

If someday there is a Winter Classic featuring Colorado or Winnipeg I would seriously consider buying tickets, airline tickets, and a hotel room just to go be a part of the spectacle.

should make for a good 3rd!
Glad to see the snow reside a bit, it was neat for the first while but the level of play was pretty brutal.

I know you as much as you know me. You make assumptions about my finances, and I will make assumptions about your sunny disposition. You don't annoy me, you entertain me. If this were real life and not an Internet forum (I can still make that distinction), we might even be friends.

Happy New Year, Dave.
