Default Marlin Quality Control Improved?

Looking to purchase a Marlin 1985GBL (45-70 obviously) in the new year. I like the large loop lever & full length mag a lot along with the laminate stock. However, with the past few years of ridiculously poor quality control over at Marlin/Remington it has give me some pause. However, I have heard bits & pieces of good news that they've finally started to get their stuff together & put out some products that are closer to what Marlin should be. Anyone out there have any recent experience with any new Marlin products? Thanks a lot.

I sent back a 336 to gravel that i purchased new in summer 2011, got a replacement in april 2012. The newer rifle functions flawlessly. The old one....not so much.

Thanks Ormachek. Some good news for once. Hopefully by the new year it'll be even better.

I haven't had any issues with Marlin of any kind, nor Remington. I hear people have with some products and customer service. Not in my experience. Lucky perhaps.
