Costco 100%
My batts are from 2008 and still hold a full charge. And they're usually under $90.
I run a 36v series for my trolling motor and put a ton of time on that thing.

Didn't Costco recently change their battery suppliers?

I've got a Kirkland one in my brother's Subaru and so far, it's held up, but it hasn't been that long to really compare.

You could be right, I have no idea. It's been a while since I've bought one...they just keep going.

As an aside, regular charging is necessary for prolonging the life of any battery. Get a charger that has a setting specifically for 12v deep cycle.

Sweet, thanks! Thinking about getting the Minn Kota charger...

Lots of info. on this site Tigger- just look. My experience and knowledge is that the cost difference and application of AGM batteries are unnecessary. Good quality "Deep cycle" batteries are made for and work best for trolling motors. The use of a deep cycle charger is also a good idea.

Has anyone tried using a solar panel to recharge their batteries? Is it effective? For my application, I will likely use the trolling motor to get to a spot and stay there to jig. While stationed and fishing, I'd like to think that a solar panel can help with the charging up the battery a bit. Anyone with experience whether that's worthwhile?

Bingo on that - I also prefer to slow charge my deep cycle batteries at 2 amps if I'm not in a hurry to get out again.
