Default Leupold VX-1 3-940

I will like to know if anyone had shot Leupold VX-1 3-940 in the past and what they didn't like about it?. I am planing to buy one next week, but i will like to know the demerits of this scope before i make up my mind. I have done some google search but couldn't find much info to satisfy my curiosity.

Well I have the vx2 version, and unfortunately I can’t fulfill your request, as I have no complaints!

Are you saying that the Vx version is good to go? Do you hunt with them or just target shooting?

It’s a hunting setup, specifically a tikka t3 9.3x62.
When I buy another scope it will be a Leupold vx again.

I’ve ran a few VX1’s over the years, I still have 2 of them one is a 2-7, the other a 1-4.

For the price point they are pretty hard to beat. The single biggest knock I have with them is a very stiff power changing ring. I had to spend a few nights in front of the tv exercising them otherwise at -20 they were pretty much a fixed power scope.
Is the glass as clear as a $1000-$1500 Zeiss or similar, no.
Is the glass as good or better as a similarly priced Vortex or Bushnell, yes.

They also have a very generous eye relief as well.

I have several of them, .....usually watch for Clay's specials and stock up. Great value and they get the job done. If I want specific bells and whistles I buy something else. They're a basic scope that gets the job done.

I have the VX-1 on my .223 and it’s a great scope, I also have a rifleman scope (so a series below the VX-1) in 2-7x33 on my 308. Holds zero great, clear and perfect for that rifles purpose.

Also have 3 other VX-2’s, all great scopes, all track true when dialing for setting zero, hold zero great, never had an issue at all.

Nothing wrong at all with this scope. I ran one for years on a 308. Never a hiccup. Many friends have em too. They won't let you down.
