I think I heard that Winchell has an aerator maybe so be careful of that but I would imagine away from that would be fine. I have fished in summer and caught some small stocked trout. Never been to Birch.

Hi there, the trout fishing has slowed down significantly since the end of December at those lakes, you might want to pick another lake to visit.

This time of year, some trout in lakes become extremely dormant.Lack of oxygen.Yes Winchell is aerated but, even so there are lotsa of lakes that winterkill, with aeration..

Default Winchell

Winchell is a fun little lake, and close enough to home for an after dinner fishing trip or just a paddle around the lake. Pretty much always catch some fish. Not sure why, but they always have been really muddy tasting. We always catch & release them here.

Where is Birch Lake ?
